Step into Bungalow on any given day and there’s a quiet rhythm to the way the space flows — pillows fluffed just so, coffee tables layered with personality, a quirky objet placed at the perfect angle. At the heart of that rhythm is Abby Simms.
A longtime member of our creative team and full-time mother of two, Abby’s role at Bungalow goes far beyond styling shelves and setting the mood. She’s the connective thread between our boutique’s bold, collected spirit and the inviting aesthetic our customers know and love. Her background in fashion, eye for detail, and innate understanding of how spaces should feel (not just look) make her one of the most versatile talents on our floor.
“I’ve always loved design, but I don’t have a formal degree,” Abby says. “To me, great style comes from instinct and storytelling. A space should reflect who you are — with a little wit mixed in.”
Abby’s own story began in the back stockroom of Banana Republic, where her mother worked as a store manager. “I was probably three,” she recalls. “There was bubble wrap, endless racks of clothes — it left an impression.”
Her fashion philosophy today? Preppy. Casual. Classic. Feminine. Comfortable. She gravitates toward pieces that do the most with the least — like an oversized monogrammed tote that works just as hard as she does, or a tailored blazer worn over jeans and sneakers with ease.
At the store, Abby brings that same balance of form and function to the floor. Whether arranging a bookshelf or resetting an entire room, she prioritizes feel over formality. Her best advice? “Add something quirky. Don’t take design too seriously.”
For Abby, motherhood and creativity go hand in hand. When asked what her daughters would call her style, she laughs: “Boy-lish.” It’s that sense of play and personality that permeates her work — from chopped pillows to the raw milk in her cart, every decision is thoughtful, personal, and a little unexpected.
Design, she believes, should feel approachable. “People want homes that reflect their real lives — the messiness, the meaning, the joy. That’s what I try to channel.”
Over the past week, we shared more from Abby in our ongoing Spotlight series on @Bungalowearit — from her favorite styling principles to what’s currently in her bag (hint: probably vitamins). Whether you’re looking for a better way to style your coffee table or simply some solid life inspiration, Abby’s voice is one worth hearing.
Because at Bungalow, we believe the best design isn’t just seen — it’s felt. And no one understands that better than Abby.
