We are thrilled to announce that our co-founder, Linda Criswell, has been featured in the latest edition of Phoenix Home & Garden magazine. This stunning 13-page spread, photographed by the talented Michael Duerinckx, art directed by the visionary Leonard Loria, and penned by the skilled Lauren Tyda, showcases Linda’s beautifully designed home and her unique approach to interior design.
Linda’s home, nestled with perfect views of Camelback Mountain, reflects her love for fashion, books, vintage records, and sentimental pieces. “I know some designers want everything to be picture-perfect,” Linda shares in the article. “But how do you live in that? Home should be personal, comfortable and reflective of the person living there.”
The feature highlights Linda’s philosophy of designing interiors like baking a cake. She starts with the “bigger anchor pieces” and adds layers of personal touches and pops of color, much like adding frosting and sprinkles to a cake. Her home, a midcentury modern gem redesigned with the help of architect Zachary Burns and landscape designer Charlie Ray, perfectly encapsulates this approach. Burns preserved the original infrastructure while adding contemporary elements to connect the indoor and outdoor spaces, creating a harmonious blend of old and new.
Linda’s vision for her home was further enhanced by Ray’s landscape design, which brought in water-wise plants, salvaged trees, and saguaros to create a native garden that complements the surrounding desert and mountain range. The result is a serene and immersive experience that blends seamlessly with the architecture.
